Here we are, almost two years later ...
Last time I posted here, I was writing C++ code to do document analysis and display for reading machines, for a kiwi company. Now, I'm writing PHP code to publish and aggregate structured content, for a Californian company.
In a few months I'll have been blogging for four years. How things have changed over that time...
... and yet, how things have stayed the same. Four years ago I was using Radio, typing in its WYSIWYG editor and communcating with the web server running on my desktop. Now Wordpress 2.0 has just come out and finally has a WYSIWYG editor of its own. I think Movable Type is yet to go WYSIWYG.
SB is finally bringing richer content to blogging. You can now publish text-based microcontent fairly easily. Podcasting is getting people to publish audio. Images are pretty well-established.

Hey, this is so weird; I have a Manila site on Scripting.Com. Is this going to stay around?
Update: It looks like it will. Cool :-)
Steve Kirks hit the nail on the head in his explanation of why it feels weird to have a Scripting.Com site. This may not have originally been the intention (see: Python.Scripting.Com), but today Scripting.Com is very much Dave's blog. It feels very very odd to see Edit This Page buttons on a scripting.com URL.
Anyway, now that I know that this blog is going to stay here, I might as well start writing about something. Perhaps I should move crash over here ... ?
Steve is calling for suggestions for people who should have scripting.com blogs ...

I'm starting a web hosting service, by the way. If you want to host your blog on my server, drop me a line. I know a lot about hosting Radio weblogs, and can do things like import comments from radiocomments.userland.com, so if you have odd requirements, ask me.
